Why Godalming is a great place to live and work
Godalming is a picturesque town with a beautiful high street, a river side setting and fantastic transport networks in and out of town.
Guardian House is situated next to the river and a short drive off the A3 to our office building. Not only great road networks, it will only take you a few minutes to walk into town or to the train station making it an accessible location from all!
Living in Godalming is really convenient for commuters to London with the regular trains but providing a more rural lifestyle away from the city.
Godalming has some great historic features throughout the town such as the 1814 Pepperpot building in the centre of town. You cannot miss this pink building from 1814. The radio operator of RMS Titanic, Jack Phillips, was born and lived in Farncombe, worked in Godalming and at sea. He is famed for remaining at his post, sending repeated distress calls, until the ship sank. Phillips is commemorated in a number of ways around the town, including a section of Godalming Museum, a memorial fountain, cloister and garden walk near the church, and a Wetherspoons-chain public house named in his honour.
Film & TV
Godalming has been used as the setting for a few well-known films in the past – the most popular being the festive film ‘The Holiday’ with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. St Trinians 2 was filmed at local school – Charterhouse, not far up the road from Guardian house! Not only is Godalming featured on the big screen but it is also the home of The Super Vet – a channel 4 veterinary series showing the fantastic work of Noel Fitzpatrick and many of his bionic creations to increase the wellbeing of the publics beloved pets.
